EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – A crash Friday evening has left one man dead, and two others seriously injured including the deceased’s brother.

According to Captain Michael Rapoza, East Providence Police responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle crash on Pawtucket Avenue near the intersection of Catlin Avenue just before 8:00 p.m.

Responding officers identified two cars involved, a Subaru in the roadway and a Nissan in the front lawn of a residence on Pawtucket Avenue. The two operators and one passenger involved in the crash were all transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

The passenger inside the Nissan was identified as 24-year-old Jacob Crenshaw, from Pawtucket. Jacob was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Jacob’s brother, 27-year-old Andrew Crenshaw, also from Pawtucket, sustained serious injuries and was last listed in critical condition. A 22-year-old from Providence was the operator Subaru and was listed in stable condition at last check.

The East Providence Police Department’s Traffic and Crash Reconstruction Unit along with detectives are investigating the crash. The preliminary investigation and witness reports indicate speed was a factor in the crash. There are no charges as of this time.
