According to officials, the Durfee Courthouse in Fall River is closed on Tuesday, Dec 28, due to water damage on several floors on one side of the building.

Fall River’s Durfee Courthouse on Rock Street is closed temporarily due to a small fire that was contained. The court will be closed so a full clean up can be conducted.

Once again, Bradford Matthew Chaloner Durfee High School has weathered yet another storm, this one, albeit, by fire rather than weathered. Built at ZERO cost to the taxpayers of Fall River by Mrs. Young to honor her son from her first marriage, in perpetuity, or at least what the original deed had stated in its original format, that the school, modeled after the city hall of Paris,France, be used solely for the education of the children of Fall River, Period! And not to be gutted into unrecognizable portico bearing no resemblance to educational pursuits! Now faced with yet another high priced public high school for the children of Fall River, it stands as to its original intent, Education! And long may it stand, a mere 140 plus years in silent testimony to its intended purpose while yet another “pretender” dares to hold the throne until such time as another burden to the taxpayers be unceremoniously unveiled!
