Couple wanted in yesterday’s Brockton murder captured in Chesterfield, Virginia

BROCKTON – Two people are under arrest, charged in a fatal shooting which occurred in Brockton last evening, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

At approximately 4:44 p.m. yesterday, Brockton Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting in the vicinity of 401 East Street. Upon arrival, first responders located a male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to Brockton Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. He was identified as Brima Koroma, 24, of Boston.

Brockton Police contacted the Massachusetts State Police Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. As a result of the investigation, detectives sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Brendan Fernandes, 33, of Brockton, and Destiny A. Fontes Silie, 25, of Warwick, Rhode Island. The pair were last seen driving away from the shooting scene together in a blue sedan.

Today, at approximately noontime, Virginia State Police stopped the blue sedan in Chesterfield, Va., and Fernandes and Silie were located and placed under arrest.

They will face a rendition process in Virginia before returning to Brockton where Fernandes will be arraigned on a murder charge and Silie will be charged with Accessory After the Fact of Murder.
