A new restaurant is coming to Providence Place Mall and an opening date has been set.

According to information released by the company, the restaurant chain Fogo de Chão is opening its first Brazilian restaurant in Rhode Island at 148 Providence Place.

“We’re excited to open our first Rhode Island restaurant at Providence Place and introduce the culinary art of churrasco to new and existing guests as we continue to expand our presence in the Northeast,” said Barry McGowan, Chief Executive Officer of Fogo de Chão. “As we continue to grow our brand globally, our commitment to our local communities remains a top priority. We’re excited to partner with Rhode Island Community Food Bank, who helps bring hunger relief to so many families throughout the Providence area and beyond.”

The restaurant features an open-air churrasco grill where guests can dine and watch gaucho chefs demonstrate the culinary art of churrasco as they butcher, prepare and grill different proteins over an open flame.

The Providence location features an outdoor dining patio with riverfront views, soaring wine displays, dry aged meat lockers for in-house aging and a lively indoor Bar Fogo area, ideal for South American cocktails and smaller, shareable plates.

Self-parking and valet are available daily. You can also place an order to-go.

Opening day is set for August 28th.

The first Fogo de Chão was built in 1979 in the countryside of Porto Alegre. Today, the chain has at least 75 locations across the world.
