The father and son killed in a crash in Mendon on Friday night have been identified.

According to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, Edwin A. Sosa Acevedo, 34, of Attleboro, was pulling out of the restaurant parking lot at 84 Uxbridge Road with his son Christian Sosa, 15, in the passenger seat when their car collided with a Ford F-350, which had a three-car carrier trailer attached.

A preliminary investigation found the crash resulted in the car leaving the roadway, striking a parked car, traveling down a 20-ft embankment, and becoming submerged in Lake Nipmuc.

Mendon Police, Fire and EMS responded and removed the two occupants of the vehicle. Lifesaving measures were performed on scene, and both were taken to Milford Hospital where they were pronounced deceased. The driver of the Ford was also taken to the hospital, but had not suffered any serious injuries.

Edwin is being described as the most loving and caring person who touched many lives. He leaves behind a girlfriend and a 10-month-old daughter.

Christian is being remembered as a beautiful soul with so much left to live for.

Family has created a GoFundMe fundraiser for funeral expenses which has raised $3,400 as of this writing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Mendon Police, State Police Detective’s assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s office, State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, State Police C.A.R.S. Unit, and State Police Crime Scene Services.
