MassDOT schedules road and ramp closures on Routes 44 and Route 24

RAYNHAM – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that there will be overnight roadway and ramp closures in the vicinity of the Route 44 Bridge over Route 24 in Raynham. The closures are necessary to allow crews to complete the steel erection for the north bridge for the Route 44 over Route 24 Bridge Replacement Project.

The closures will take place in overnight hours, beginning at 10:00 p.m. each night and ending the following morning at 9:00 a.m., starting Friday, May 1, and continuing on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3.

Signage and police details will be in place to facilitate traffic, and access will remain available for emergency vehicles needing to continue across the bridge on Route 44. This work will require closures and detours as follows:

Route 24 south to Route 44 east or Route 24 south continuation:

Take exit 13 and cross over Route 44 to access the ramp to continue on Route 24 south. For traffic destined for Route 44 east, take exit 12 and head south on Route 140. Take the ramp to Route 24 north. Take exit 13A to reach Route 44 east.

Route 24 north to Route 44 west or Route 24 north continuation:

Take exit 13A and cross over Route 44 to access the ramp to continue on Route 24 north. For traffic destined for Route 44 west, take exit 14B off Route 24 to I-495 north. Take exit 7B for Route 24 south. Take exit 13 for Route 44 west.

Route 44 east to Route 24 north or Route 44 east continuation: Take Route 24 south.

Take exit 12 and head south on Route 140. Take the ramp to Route 24 north. Take exit 13A to cross over Route 44 to access Route 24 north via the on-ramp or continue onto Route 44 east.

Route 44 west to Route 24 south or Route 44 west continuation:

Take the ramp to Route 24 north. Take exit 14B for I-495 north. Take exit 7B for Route 24 south. Take exit 13 for Route 44 west or cross over Route 44 to access the ramp to Route 24 south.

The schedule for this major infrastructure project is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
