HOLBROOK — Chief William Smith reports that the Holbrook Police Department has arrested and charged a former employee of a local business after an extensive investigation showed that she had allegedly embezzled more than $1.3 million from the business.

Holbrook police began an investigation into 36-year-old Ashley Summer of Weymouth in March after it was reported by Allstate Glass that she had been suspected of stealing $50,000. Summer had been an employee of Allstate Glass from 2020 until her resignation in February 2023. In her role, she had access to the company’s finances.

Over the course of a months-long investigation, police discovered that Summer allegedly made multiple fraudulent credit card charges, direct deposits, and wire transfers. Through further investigation, it was found that Summer allegedly embezzled more than $1.3 million from the company between January 2021 and February 2023.

As a result of the investigation, Holbrook Police applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Summer. She was arrested in Holbrook by Holbrook Police on Tuesday, Aug. 1.

Summer was charged with Larceny Over $1,200 (Felony), Improper Use of a Credit Card Over $1,200 (Felony, Two Counts), Identity Fraud (Misdemeanor, Four Counts), and Money Laundering (Felony).

Summer was arraigned Wednesday in Quincy District Court. The Court set a $100,000 cash bail and ordered the defendant to return on Aug. 30, according to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.

The case remains under investigation by the Holbrook Police Department.
