Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section arrests level 3 offender wanted for questioning
The Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section Metro Team has arrested 53-year-old Edmund LaChance for failing to register with the Sex Offender Registry Board.
According to the Massachusetts State Police, LaChance was separately wanted for questioning in a disturbing incident on Tuesday evening when a suspicious man driving in Humarock reportedly pulled alongside a 17-year-old jogger and offered her a ride. When the jogger declined and continued on her route, the driver followed her until she ran away and called 911.
Scituate and Marshfield Police identified LaChance as a person of interest in the incident and asked the public for assistance in locating him. LaChance has a history of predatory behavior and was convicted of several charges previously, including rape and kidnapping.
During the joint investigation with local police, the VFAS Metro Team developed information that LaChance may be in a specific location in Hingham.
Troopers located and arrested LaChance in Hingham for failure to register and transported him to Hingham District Court.
According to court records, LaChance was arraigned and held on $250,000 cash bail.
