Somerset boy, Diman student, with dreams of being a firefighter saves girl at Fall River restaurant
A local teen with dreams of becoming a firefighter showed he is well on his way after springing into action to make a rescue.
According to the Dighton Fire Department, Dighton Junior Firefighters candidate Ben Courville, while out to dinner Sunday at the Fall River 99 Restaurant with his mom Christine Courville, noticed that a girl was choking.
Ben, who just finished his freshman year at Diman, approached the girl and asked if she was choking. She nodded her head yes and Ben performed the Heimlich Maneuver on her and dislodged the obstruction.
The girl’s mom was extremely thankful for Ben’s actions. Ben’s mother, and the Dighton Fire Department were also proud.
“The Dighton Junior Firefighters and the Dighton Fire Department are extremely PROUD of your actions today, Ben Courville. Notifications like this is what makes the time and effort that ALL of the Dighton Junior Firefighters Instructors devote to these young men and women well worth it.”
Great job Ben!
