State Police issue preliminary investigation after pedestrian struck on Route 95

Authorities have issued an update after a pedestrian was struck on Monday night.

According to Rhode Island State Police, at just before 9:00 p.m., the State Police responded to a report of a pedestrian being stuck by a vehicle on Route 95 North, at Exit 42 in Pawtucket.

Upon arrival, a man was located on the left shoulder of the roadway suffering from serious bodily injuries.

He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Pawtucket Fire and Rescue and is currently in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation, to include independent witnesses and DOT highway camera footage, revealed the man attempted to walk across the highway prior to being struck. The vehicle involved in the accident remained on scene and the operator cooperated with the investigation. While the investigation is ongoing, no charges or citations have been filed.
