Several people, including children, were transported to the hospital after a serious crash late Saturday.

According to the Lakeville Fire Department, Firefighters were alerted to a crash at 10:45 p.m. Saturday night in the 100 block of Pierce Avenue by Lakeville Fire Alarm. Dispatchers reported multiple 911 calls.

Responders arrived to find 3 of the 4 occupants of the vehicle self-extricated. The passenger car had collided with trees when it left the roadway.

The remaining occupant of the vehicle was extricated by firefighters using hydraulic tools (aka jaws of life).

A total of 4 patients were transported to the hospital for injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. Lakeville ambulances transported 2 patients to St. Luke’s Hospital, a Freetown ambulance transported a patient to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, and a Berkley ambulance transported a patient to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

The Lakeville Fire Department’s response included Ambulances 2, Ambulance 3, Engines 1, Engine 2, Car 1, and Car 2.

Chief O’Brien commended the performance of the firefighters who responded. “With an on-duty complement of 3 firefighters, this operation was only possible with the help of off duty and on-call firefighters.”

The Chief also thanked Berkley and Freetown Fire Departments for their assistance.
