23-year-old Fall River man gunned down after several shots fired
Officials are investigating after a Fall River man died from a shooting on Saturday night.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police detectives, Fall River Police and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating a homicide, which occurred in the City of Fall River late last night into this morning.
Just before 10:45 p.m., Fall River Police responded to multiple 911 calls for reports of shots fired in the area of 275 County Street in Fall River.
Upon arrival on scene, first responders located a male victim, later identified as 23-year-old Diamonte Odom, laying on a sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, where he was pronounced deceased this morning at 2:40 a.m.
No suspects are in custody at this time, according to Miliote, and the investigation is extremely active. No other details were released.
It was reported on scanner transmissions that at least one vehicle was damaged in the gunfire.
There have been several high-profile shootings in Fall River recently.
On Friday,over a dozen shots were fired causing damage to vehicles and homes.
On Wednesday, a man fired multiple rounds at a group of individuals.
Late last month, a 31-year-old Fall River woman was injured in an early morning shooting.

The sad thing is the apartment complex, which has been the site of at least one other murder, could have been bulldozed when the city took it for taxes.
Bad neighborhood but there are new houses around it being built.and this being gone would have helped.
