A Fall River man died in a hospital minutes after being shot during an alleged assault in the El Vallado neighborhood of Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico last week.

21-year-old Luis Miguel was reportedly stopped by two men who demanded his belongings.

Despite Miguel handing over his property, one of the men shot him several times at close range and then fled.

Paramedics provided first aid to Miguel and transported him to the hospital where he later died due to gunshots to his neck, abdomen and back.

Five shell casings were located at the scene.

Friends of the deceased stated that Luis reportedly left to visit Mexico on Wednesday and died on Thursday night.

He was a graduate of Durfee High School and was working at the Amazon facility on Innovation Way.

Luis’ mother Rosanna is devastated and has created a GoFundMe fundraiser to try and bring his body back to Fall River for burial.

“We want to give my son Luis Miguel the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes. All donations will help cover air transportation of his body and the funeral. Anything will be appreciated. My family is torn apart and all I would like is to have my son with me so he can have the funeral he deserves God Bless you always.”

The fundraiser had raised $500 as of this writing.
