The Fall River Fire Department extinguished a 3-story blaze Friday morning that left residents displace and injured.
According to Deputy Fire Chief and City Fire Marshal J.P. Picard, at just before 5:30 a.m., Fall River Fire Department companies were dispatched to 1161 Pleasant Street for a reported residential structure fire with smoke and flames visible.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from the building and located an active fire on the first floor. Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines and began extinguishing the fire while additional crews conducted primary searches of the affected floor and the floors above.
No occupants were found trapped inside the building.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the first floor, with only limited extension to the second floor and no extension to the third floor.
Two civilians were treated at the scene for minor injuries. No firefighters were injured.
Utilities to the building, including gas, electricity, and water, were shut off as a precaution. Seven residents were displaced as a result of the fire.
The Fall River Building Department and Fire Investigation Unit responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
