Ice cream stands in the Fall River area have announced their openings for the season, a sure sign of optimism that warmer weather is on its way.

If you are looking for a cone, a sundae, or even a banana split, there will be several options to choose from.

Somerset Creamery opens their Route 6 and County Street locations on Wednesday March 12th.

Spring hours are: Sunday-Thursday 12pm-9:30 pm and Friday-Saturday 12pm-10 pm.

They are also hiring, looking for people who can work weekdays 12-5 or after school at 2:30 as well as weeknights and weekends. Local college students, TECCA or homeschooled students are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be able to work Saturdays and Sundays, and are looking to hire for the entire season not just the summer months. Applications are available online at www.somersetcreamery.com to print and mail in. Applications will also be available at both locations starting opening day.

The Ice Cream Barn on Locust Street in Swansea is now open year-round.

Helger’s Ice Cream Shoppe on Main Road in Tiverton plans to open April 11th.

Wood’s Ice Cream on Adamsville Road in Westport stated they will open in May.

Simcock Farm on Marvel Street in Swansea typically opens in late May.

Handy Hill Creamery on Hix Bridge Road in Westport typically opens on Memorial Day weekend.

Lickety Splits on Route 6 in Westport opened in April last year.

Last May, Seagull Scoops opened at the Tipsy Seagull. The Seagull plans to open on May 9th.
