While residents still clean up and wait for power to be restored from bomb cylone, rain and wind again headed our way

While today was much quieter than yesterday’s bomb cyclone with mostly cloudy and cool conditions along with diminishing winds, the next round of rain along with gusty winds is on its way.

According to the National Weather Service, the next storm is set to arrive late Friday into Saturday. The storm will bring with it more rain and strong winds albeit not as damaging as earlier in the week. The weather could, however, dampen recovery efforts in some communities.

Thousands are still without power in Massachusetts with full restoration expected by the end of the week assuming the weather doesn’t have an impact. Some towns are at nearly 100% without power. Many roads, particularly in rural communities, are still not passable.

This new storm could bring as much as 3 more inches of rain to some areas that are still waterlogged. Parts of southeastern Massachusetts saw over 3 inches of rain during the bomb cyclone in addition to 80+ mph winds.

As represented in the graphic from the National Weather Service, southern New England cities and towns could see winds over 30 mph.

What impacts, if any, the weather will have on Halloween festivities remains to be seen.
