Victim’s name released in fatal pedestrian crash in Seekonk
The victim’s name has been released in a pedestrian crash that became fatal.
According to a statement by SPD, on Sunday, November 3rd, at approximately 12:35 a.m., the Seekonk Communication Center received a 911 call related to two pedestrians struck on Oakhill Ave., in the area of Central Ave. Seekonk Police, along with Seekonk Fire/Rescue, were dispatched and arrived a short time later.
While on the scene, medical attention was given to both male parties. One male was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and later pronounced deceased. The other male refused to be transported from the scene but sought medical attention on his own. The driver of the striking vehicle is cooperating with investigators.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the deceased has been identified as Scott Baptista, 28, of Seekonk.
No charges have been filed at this time.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Detectives from the Seekonk Police Department, in conjunction with MA State Police Troopers assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, are continuing to investigate this incident.
