Name released in fatal Route 24 crash

The victim in Sunday’s crash on Route 24 has been identified.

Sunday, at approximately 4:58 p.m., troopers from the State Police – Dartmouth Barracks responded to reports of a rollover crash on Route 24 Southbound near the 12.4 mile-marker in Freetown.

Upon arrival, troopers located a 2003 Ford Escape that for reasons still under investigation, had left the travel lane, off the right side of the highway and rolled over, ejecting two adult occupants. There were three occupants of the vehicle. The driver, a 34-year-old woman from Taunton sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital. 34-year-old Joshua A. Golbranson from Wareham, who was a passenger, was determined to be deceased on scene, as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The third occupant, a 13-year-old female juvenile, was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital to be evaluated, with no visible injuries.

During the crash investigation and follow-up reconstruction, the right travel lane was closed.

The remaining facts and circumstances remain under investigation by troopers assigned to the State Police – Dartmouth Barracks. Troop D Headquarters, State Police Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS), State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section (CARS), State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Freetown Fire & EMS Departments, Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MA DOT) all assisted on scene.
