Police have arrested a teen in connection with two bomb threats made at a local supermarket late last year.

According to Captain Jason Ryan, today, the Middletown Police Department arrested Jacob Tomkus, 19, of Middletown, after an investigation into two bomb threats which were called into the Stop & Shop located at 1360 West Main Road in Middletown. The two separate threats were called in to the store on November 17, 2019 and November 18, 2019. The bomb threats forced the store to be evacuated each day, creating fear for customers and employees, according to Ryan.

The Middletown Police Department Detective Division conducted an investigation that produced evidence that directly connected Tomkus to the calls. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was subsequently charged with two counts of Bomb Threats and Similar False Reports.

Tomkus was arraigned this morning in District Court where he did not enter a plea. Bail was set at $20,000 with surety.
