Two injured, one fatally, in Massachusetts multi-vehicle crash involving motorcycle on Route 131

A motorcycle rider has died after a multi-vehicle crash on Saturday.

According to Dudley Police, at approximately 3:25 p.m., officers along with Dudley Fire and Emergency Services personnel, were dispatched to a car versus motorcycle crash in the vicinity of 194 Southbridge Road (Route 131) in Dudley. The vehicles involved were a white 2010 Mercury sedan, operated by a 17-year-old male from Dudley, and a black 2005 Harley Davidson Motorcycle, operated by a 61-year-old male also from Dudley.

According to an initial investigation, it appears the car was exiting a driveway when it collided with the westbound motorcycle.

Both operators were transported by ambulance to area hospitals.

The Mercury operator suffered minor injuries. The operator of the motorcycle died from his injuries.

Names are being withheld pending notification of the family.

The roadway was shut down for several hours during the investigation. It re-opened at approximately 7:00 p.m.

The crash is under investigation by Dudley Police Officers Ryan Daniels and Luis Pacheco as well as Lieutenant Marek Karlowicz and Sergeant Dean Poplawski. Members of the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Unit and District Attorney Early’s Office are also involved in the investigation.
