Two from Rhode Island charged after home condemned, over a dozen animals seized
Two people from Rhode Island have been arrested after an investigation into possible cruel conduct to animals.
According to Lieutenant Randy Francis, on Thursday at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, members of the Warwick Police Department, and WPD Animal Control Officers who were paired with additional Animal Control Agencies, responded to a residence on Powhatan Street to execute a search warrant in relation to possible acts of animal cruelty involving multiple cats and dogs.
Officials arrived on scene and found the animals were relocated by their owners sometime overnight. According to the report, the residence was in deplorable condition, and was subsequently condemned by the City of Warwick Minimum Housing.
Officials were able to track down the displaced animals to a home on Seaview Avenue. There, officials found and relocated two dogs and thirteen cats to the Warwick Animal Shelter by the ACO officers.
Officials were able to locate the two roaming canines and captured them safely and subsequently transferred to the Warwick Animal Shelter as well.
Amanda Bray and Andrew Sanville were taken into custody, and each were charged with 1 Count of Animal Cruelty, 1 Count of Care of Dogs, 1 Count of Compulsory Rabies Vaccination, and 2 Counts of Abandonment of Animals.
