Fall River, MA (April 26, 2022) – Today, Towne House Restaurant Complex/ Douro Steakhouse officially announced that the upscale dining destination is under new management. Husband and wife team and local residents Paul Filogenio and Ariane Filogenio have purchased the ownership stake of prior owner Jenny Fernandes-Correia, who as of this week no longer has any affiliation with the business.

“This is a new day for Towne House,” commented co-owner Ariane Filogenio. “ This venture was our first foray into the restaurant industry and to say it’s been a bumpy introduction would be an understatement. We are thrilled to announce that we are now the primary owners & operating managers of Towne House along with our co-owner, longstanding Fall River restaurateur Luis Bettencourt.”

Towne House, which opened in the heart of the coronavirus pandemic, is a high-end, authentic Portuguese-inspired restaurant complex featuring Douro steakhouse; a tapas, oysters and raw bar; a wine bar; a cafe with artisanal desserts; two distinct outdoor dining patios; function space with an adjoining bar; and a private cigar bar and hookah lounge.

“Our highest priority is to provide our guests with the most innovative and delicious culinary experience in the region,” continued Filogenio. “Whether someone wants a fun, relaxed environment to enjoy curated cocktails and tapas with friends, or they are looking for a refined, white tablecloth meal to celebrate an important occasion, Towne House has something for everyone. We are sure that once people walk through the door, they will quickly become regulars.”

“A lot of restaurants struggled over the past few years and many had to close their doors,” said Paul Filogenio, co-owner. “We opened during the pandemic, so we were unable to take advantage of the various COVID-19 relief options for small businesses, making the time extra challenging. That’s why we are so proud of where we are now. We have an excellent and dedicated team, and we are all excited to welcome everyone back!”

I actually loved this restaurant until they opened the cigar bar. Then I walked in and got smacked in the face with the smell of disgusting cigars. You could smell them all the way into the dining area. With prices like they charge at Douro and smelling the stench of cigars I walked out and have never returned. That was a new feature that seemed to be added later after opening and I have no idea why they would offer a cigar bar in an upscale restaurant like that… I think it will cost them some customers because I can’t see eating a 35 steak and smell gross cigar smoke …. Bad business concept in my opinion….. but maybe there is enough of clientele that want to pay those prices with a side of smoke… guess time will tell…
