Tiverton fires burn 55 acres of land, 15 communities respond

Area brush fires kept firefighters throughout the community busy as they ripped through acres of land.
According to the Tiverton Fire Department, Sunday afternoon just before 3:00 p.m., firefighters responded to Christopher Ave for a brush fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a quick moving brush fire in the woods between Christopher Ave and Progress away. Mutual aid responded to the scene with additional manpower as well as specialized forestry equipment from:

The fire took 4 hours to bring under control and consumed 55 acres of land. Wind played a factor in the fire.
1 firefighter was treated at the scene for heat related issues.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
