A teenage driver allegedly reaching high speeds and weaving through traffic was arrested on multiple charges.

Shortly before noon on Monday Trooper Anthony Grassini, along with Trooper Carly Tillotson, a recent graduate of the 86th Recruit Training Troop, observed a gray sedan operating erratically on Route 24 northbound in Bridgewater. The Troopers caught up to the vehicle, a gray Kia, and clocked its speed at approximately 100 miles per hour while also observing it weaving through lanes around other vehicles. They activated the cruisers emergency lights and stopped the Kia further North on Route 24.

Upon the Kia coming to a full stop, both Troopers exited the cruiser and approached the vehicle. The Troopers identified two occupants inside the Kia and quickly observed the handgrip and slide of a handgun on the floorboard under the front passenger seat. The operator, identified as Kelson Santos, 19, of Taunton, and the passenger, a 16-year-old male, were removed from the vehicle without incident and detained pending investigation on scene. Neither Santos nor the passenger possessed a license to carry firearms. It was also discovered that Santos had an active restraining order against him and is ordered by the court not to possess firearms. His right to operate a vehicle in Massachusetts was suspended prior to this date as well.

Troopers removed the firearm and identified it as a loaded 9mm Glock P80 pistol with a magazine capable of holding 17 rounds of ammunition. Santos was placed under arrest and seated in a cruiser for transport to the Middleboro Barracks. The juvenile was eventually transferred to the custody of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.

Santos was ordered to be held for court without bail. He was later arraigned at Brockton District Court on the charges of Illegal Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession of a Firearm without FID Card, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Marked Lanes Violation, and Speeding.
