Boston, MA (April 27, 2022) – The Fall River City Council unanimously passed a resolution Tuesday in support of the Fair Share Amendment at a regular meeting of the Council.

The Fair Share Amendment is a proposal to add a 4% tax on annual individual incomes exceeding $1 million. The amendment is expected to impact under 1% of taxpayers and is projected to raise nearly $2 billion each year for investments in public education and infrastructure improvements. The Amendment was overwhelmingly passed by the Massachusetts Legislature’s Constitutional Convention in June 2021, placing the initiative on the 2022 ballot in November.
