Taunton man arrested after Taunton woman is injured exiting moving vehicle
At about 1:20 AM Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to State Police-Foxborough responded to an adult female who had exited a motor vehicle and sustained injuries on Route 495 southbound between Exits 14 and 13 in Plainville.
Responding Troopers located the woman, a 26-year-old Taunton resident, in the roadway with serious injuries. She was transported by EMS to Rhode Island Hospital. She is expected to survive.
The vehicle in which the woman had been a passenger remained on scene. Troopers determined that the male driver of the vehicle, Joseph Monsini, 25, of Taunton, was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him. Monsini was taken to State Police-Foxborough for booking.
The investigation into how and why the victim exited the vehicle — she is believed to have exited through the passenger side window, possibly while the vehicle was moving — remains ongoing.
The incident remains under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Norfolk County.
