If you are a fan of rain, you will enjoy the next few days.

According to the National Weather Service, the area is expected to get up to 2 inches of rain in the next few days.

One more day of dry weather today for MA, RI and CT then rain showers overspread the area late Sunday night and continue Monday into Tuesday with 1-2″ of rainfall possible. This includes the cities and suburbs of Boston, Providence & Hartford.

The forecast:

Tonight
A chance of showers, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature rising to around 45 by 4am. South wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Monday
Showers. Areas of fog. High near 57. South wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Monday Night
Showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Areas of fog before 8pm. Low around 53. South wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tuesday
Showers likely, mainly between 1pm and 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 58. Southwest wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday Night
Rain showers likely before 5am, then rain and snow showers likely. Patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 34. West wind 6 to 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Wednesday
A chance of rain and snow showers before 7am, then a chance of snow showers between 7am and 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. West wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
