WASHINGTON D.C. — Bristol County, Mass., Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson told President Donald J. Trump Friday at the White House that border security is key to preventing more Americans, and more people in Bristol County, from being victimized by criminal illegal aliens.

Speaking to the president after Friday afternoon’s round table at the White House, Sheriff Hodgson told him about his experiences at the border and about how even though Bristol County is about 2,200 miles from the border, the impacts of criminal illegal immigrants are big, from local people killed in 2016 and 2018, and experiences in which dangerous drugs caused emergencies at his jail.

Sheriff Hodgson was invited to the discussion earlier this week by White House officials.

He also told President Trump about how Massachusetts is the second most-common place to find Fentanyl in the nation, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration’s 2018 National Drug Threat Assessment report, which called Mexican transnational criminal organizations “the greatest criminal drug threat to the United States.”
