School bus driver from Somerset arrested by Massachusetts State Police in New Bedford with children on board

A local school bus driver is facing charges after an incident on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Massachusetts State Police Sergeant Gregory Jones, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Troopers from the Dartmouth barracks conducted a traffic stop for Erratic Operation of a Grand Caravan with a school bus plate travelling on Route 140 South in New Bedford. 

There were four children, one adult, plus the operator on board. 

The female operator, 34-year-old Rebecca Shing of Somerset, was arrested and charged with OUI Alcohol and four counts of Child Endangerment OUI alcohol.

Shing was transported to Dartmouth Barracks for booking.
