A mother has been charged after her young child was found deceased.

According to police, on Friday, at just after 4:30 a.m., Bristol Police responded to Bayview Avenue along with Bristol Rescue for a report of an unresponsive two-month-old infant. Upon arrival, police observed the infant lying on the bedroom floor not breathing. Life-saving measures were immediately performed however the infant was pronounced deceased on the scene by medical personnel.

An investigation conducted by the Bristol Police Department Detective Division into the cause of the infant’s death ensued and because of that investigation, the biological mother, 19-year-old Trista Thivierge, of Bayview Avenue, Bristol, RI was arrested and charged today with 1 count of Child Endangerment, and 1 count of Obstructing a Police Officer.

Fall River Reporter had announced earlier in the day that the community had come together to support Thivierge and the baby’s father.

She was arraigned by a Bail Commissioner at Bristol Police Department Headquarters and released on $10,000 surety bail.

Thivierge is scheduled to appear in the 6th District Court on Wednesday.
