Procession, Candlelight Vigil, Mass scheduled for Massachusetts Marine killed in aircraft crash

A Massachusetts Marine that was killed during training, is coming home.

27-year-old Captain Ross A. Reynolds, USMC. of Leominster, will return to Massachusetts and his hometown on Saturday, April 2. 2022.

Captain Reynolds was one of four Marines who died on March 19 in Norway in an aircraft crash during a NATO training exercise (Cold Response 22).

A procession escorting him back to Leominster will leave Logan International Airport on Saturday with an expected arrival time in Leominster around 2:30 to 3:30 pm. Residents are asked to honor and welcome home Captain Reynolds by lining the streets as the procession arrives. The route will extend from Mechanic Street (near Johnny Ro Park), down Mechanic Street, through downtown via West Street, then continue to Anderson Funeral Home via Maple Avenue, Merriam Avenue, South Street (Fitchburg), Electric Avenue, to Clarendon Street.

On Sunday evening, April 3 at 7:00 pm, there will be a Candlelight Vigil on the steps of Leominster City Hall, 25 West Street, to show support for Captain Reynolds’ family and honor his life. All are welcome to attend. In case of inclement weather, the vigil will be held inside City Hall.

On Monday. April 4, there will be a public wake at Leominster City Hall from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm in the John R. Tata Auditorium. On Monday afternoon, the parking lot adjacent to City Hall will be reserved for the family and those needing handicap access. There is ample parking available throughout the downtown area, including on-street parking.

On Tuesday, April 5 ai 11:00 am, a Mass will be held for Captain Reynolds at St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic Street. On Tuesday morning, only family will be allowed inside Leominster City Hall. Those attending the Mass should go directly to St. Cecilia’s Church. The Mass will also be broadcast live at Leominster City Hall.

A private burial will follow the Mass with full military honors at the Massachusetts Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Winchendon.
