A popular local catering company is now offering take out and eventually a dining experience.

The Bearded Chicken, located at the former Chad’s Chowder House at 1160 G.A.R. Highway in Somerset, opened Thursday as a take-out spot for the first time.

Owner and head chef Eric Thomas has turned a successful catering business into something more. Thomas received so many orders on the first day that online ordering had to temporarily be disabled.

“Today was crazy! We did so many orders we had to shut off online ordering and stopped taking orders by 5:30. The excitement and support has been overwhelming!”

If you are a fan of chicken wings, TBC has several options. A variety of egg rolls and sandwiches are also available.

Thomas’ on-site catering services are on hold as TBC gets used to their new home, but they are still offering catering trays for pickup.

Dine-in should also be available next year, according to Thomas.

“We’re planning on starting on the dining room remodel this winter and hope to have it open by the Spring. It’ll be counter service style dine in with seating for a 25-30. We’re also looking to add an outdoor seating area for next Spring/Summer.”

Take-out hours of operation are Wednesday through Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
