Police say Plymouth County 19-year-old ejected, killed, in motorcycle crash
Hingham, MA – A fatal crash involving a motorcycle is currently under investigation.
According to Lt. Steven Dearth, on Thursday, just after 10:30 p.m., Officers responded to reports of a crash involving a motorcycle on Whiting St. (Route 53) at the intersection of Derby St. There were no other vehicles involved. The motorcyclist was transported to South Shore Hospital but did not survive.
Preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Derby St. at a high rate of speed approaching the intersection of Whiting St. The motorcycle passed an eastbound vehicle on the right on Derby St. then struck the median curb on Whiting St. The motorcyclist was ejected, and the motorcycle continued into the yard at 173 Whiting St.
Whiting St. remained closed at Derby St. and Farm Hills Lane until 1:00 a.m. The crash is being investigated by Hingham Police, State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and State Troopers from the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
The name of the motorcyclist killed in the collision is 19-year-old Ethan H. Kulin of Hingham.
