Two residents from the South Coast were arrested this week on drug trafficking charges after a police investigation.

According to police, on Tuesday, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Dartmouth Police detectives, with the assistance of members of the Massachusetts State Police and the Bristol County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant on Sawyer Street in New Bedford. The warrant was issued as a result of an investigation initiated by Dartmouth detectives.

During a search of the residence, detectives located and seized approximately 60 grams of suspected fentanyl, 37 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and approximately 13 grams of powder cocaine. In addition, detectives also located and seized approximately $2,513.

As a result of the incident, police arrested 33-year-old Roberto Encarnacion and 36-year-old Heather Cruz, both of Sawyer Street, and charged them with trafficking fentanyl, trafficking cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. In addition, Encarnacion was also charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine (subsequent offense).

According to Dartmouth Chief of Police, Brian P. Levesque, “I am very proud of my detectives, as they, along with the other investigators who they work in concert with, continue to take these dangerous individuals out of circulation. Their hard work shows their commitment to making the community a safer place for law abiding citizens to enjoy.”
