A Plymouth County School has experienced two tragedies within just two days of each other.

Tuesday in Brockton District Court, 38-year-old Justelino Resende of Brockton was held without bail and pleaded not guilty to one count each of Murder and Possession of a Firearm, and two counts of Assault with Attempt to Murder concerning the death of his stepson.

2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, Brockton Police received a 911 call for a report of a shooting at 93 Tribou Street. Upon arrival, they found a male and female suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The male was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead of his injuries. He has been identified as 14-year-old Nehemiah Cepeda. A student at Brockton Therapeutic Day School.

The female victim, Cepeda’s mother, 39-year-old Felicia Cepeda Williams, was taken to Boston Medical Center where she remains for treatment at this time.

On Thursday, Brockton Police responded to the Brockton Therapeutic Day School for a report that a stabbing occurred inside the school shortly after 9:30 a.m.

Emergency Medical Services transported a 17-year-old male student to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police immediately placed a 16-year-old male student in custody.

The death of Cepeda has been a devastating loss for the school and they have provided counseling for students if needed.

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created for Cepeda’s family and has raised over $10,000 as of this writing.
