Pedestrian suffers life-threatening injuries in Raynham crash
RAYNHAM –Police Chief James Donovan and Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita report that the Raynham Police and Fire Departments responded after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle this afternoon.
At approximately 4:37 p.m. the Raynham Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of Route 44 near Lowe’s for a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Massachusetts State Police also responded to the scene. Upon arrival first responders found that the victim, a woman, had suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. She was transported by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital.
After an initial investigation, police believe the victim was struck by a black Cadillac Escalade travelling eastbound on Route 44 as she was attempting to cross the road.
The driver, a 56-year-old Bridgewater man, remained on scene.
No charges have been filed at this time, and the Raynham Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Detective Unit continue to actively investigate.
