St. Anne’s Church committee member Richie Affonso has scheduled a peaceful protest outside of St Anne’s on Sunday October 28th at noon. “We are going to have a respectful and peaceful gathering to support St. Anne’s Church and to show the diocese what they are taking away from Fall River.”

The church is set to close November 25th. The Bishop stated reasons such as the cost to repair the church, changing demographics in the diocese and decline in parish membership. The Church needs millions in repairs, but some feel the church can be saved with repairs being done over time.

A GoFundMe page has also been started to help repair the church. Through 5 days, the campaign has raised $4,574 dollars of the $1 million goal. One donor has submitted a $1,200 donation and a second has donated $1,000.

Affonso asks those interested to show up outside of the church at noon and dress warm and bring a sign if you can. “Be respectful and don’t make signs that are going to offend anyone. We are there to make a statement and we cant let the message get lost.”
