Parade, early fireworks, festival coming to Freetown
Fourth of July festivities are set for the town of Freetown.
According to the Freetown Parade & Fireworks Committee, the fireworks are scheduled to take place on July 3rd and are planned to start around 9:45 p.m. at Hathaway Park on Water Street in Assonet (near the Assonet Inn).
The festival starts at 6 p.m. on July 3rd at the same location. The festival will include booths with food and some games for kids.
The parade will take place on July 4th. Lineup begins at 9 a.m. at the KRR baseball fields on Narrows Road, opposite Independence Harbor. Vehicles, floats, etc., should enter the lineup via the Narrows Road Bypass off South Main Street near Stop & Shop. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Narrows Road and proceeding north along South Main Street, left onto Water Street, and concluding at Hathaway Park.
TRAFFIC PATTERNS
According to Freetown police, Traffic patterns for Water St, Pleasant St, Mill St, Walnut St, and Elm St will be implemented at approximately 6:30 pm.
Handicap placard vehicles and staff personnel for the event will be allowed to park in designated areas on Hathaway Park. Officer(s) will be in the area for assistance.
Once the fireworks display has been completed, North Main St will also become a one way street until the majority of the pedestrian and vehicles have been dispersed from the area.
