Nor’ easter to bring cold rain, strong winds

The rain went away for a little while, but it is set to return and will bring with it strong winds.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will return this afternoon and tonight. East-northeast winds will increase this afternoon and early tonight with gusts of 30 to 35 mph.

Steady rain arrives in Hartford & Springfield 3-5pm, Worcester & Providence 5-8pm, Boston & Cape Cod 6-9pm. Before then, just spotty light rain/sprinkles. Some up north in the higher elevations could even see some snow.

The forecast:

This Afternoon: Rain likely, mainly after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 50. East wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tonight: Rain. Patchy fog after 9pm. Low around 42. Northeast wind around 13 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 46. North wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: A slight chance of rain before 9pm, then a chance of showers, mainly between 9pm and 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
