Barnstable Police have released the three names involved in Saturday morning’s fatal accident.

On July 28 at 12:10 a.m., Barnstable Police were called to a head-on motor vehicle collision on Route 28 in Cotuit near the Mashpee town line. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2000 Toyota sedan, operated by 22-year-old Mickey A. Rivera from Fall River, was traveling east on Route 28 when it collided head-on with a westbound 2012 GMC SUV. Rivera was pronounced dead at the accident scene and his passenger, 24-year-old Jocelyn Goyette of New Bedford was transported to Cape Cod Hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The operator of the 2012 GMC SUV has been identified as 32-year-old Kevin P. Quinn of Mashpee. Quinn was transported after the crash to South Shore hospital where he later died from severe injures. Quinn was a United States Marine who spent two tours in Afghanistan. He was returning home from visiting his wife Kara and their newborn baby daughter at the maternity department of Cape Cod Hospital. His sister Danielle expressed how much Kevin enjoyed being a husband and father. A GoFundMe page has been created that has currently reached over $72,000.

According to scanner transmissions and accounts, Rivera was being chased by Mashpee Police at the time of the crash for erratic operation, speeding, and going through several stop signs. Speeds reached approximately 65 mph during the chase. Rivera was ejected from his vehicle and Quinn was trapped in his vehicle.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
