Officials have released the names of the victims in a fatal shooting in Johnston, Rhode Island on Wednesday.

The suspect, identified as 52-year-old James Harrison, reportedly fatally shot his neighbor, 44-year-old Thomas May. His 15-year-old daughter was also shot and transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Harrison also fatally shot his mother, 83-year-old Janet Harrison, who lived with him on Ligian Ct.

Harrison fled the scene and a short time later a pursuit ensued by Johnston, Cranston, Providence, and Rhode Island State Police.

Harrison reportedly drove at police, hit a cruiser, and crossed onto the wrong side of the road before losing control and crashing into a rock.

Harrison was later shot and killed by law enforcement when he reportedly pointed a gun at officers after the crash.

Police arrived at Ligian Ct. in Johnston at approximately 7:30 a.m. after an incident the previous day.

According to ABC6, the night before the shooting, May told police he heard “banging noises” outside of his 15-year-old daughter’s bedroom window. May stated that he saw Harrison outside of his home using a ladder. Harrison then ran back home when he was caught. May then filed a trespass order against Harrison. The next morning, police responded back to the scene to speak to Harrison. He was then spotted by officers making a “gesture consistent with shooting a firearm.” When an officer went to detain Harrison, he saw the daughter was shot on the front lawn. The father was found dead in the garage.

The incidents are still under investigation.
