Motorcycle rider seriously injured in Raynham crash

RAYNHAM — Police Chief James Donovan and Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita report that the Raynham Police and Fire Departments responded to a crash Wednesday morning where a man riding a motorcycle was seriously injured.

At 8:42 a.m., the Raynham Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Broadway (Route 138) and Carver Street for a report of a motorcycle that collided with a SUV.

Upon arrival, first responders located a 56-year-old Raynham man who was lying in the road with serious injuries. The man’s motorcycle collided with the front passenger’s side of a SUV and he was thrown from his 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle and landed in the road.

The man was treated at the scene by Raynham Fire paramedics and was transported by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. The man’s injuries are serious and his condition is unknown at this time.

A 50-year-old Raynham woman, driving a white 2018 Kia Sorento SUV, suffered minor injuries and was transported by a Raynham Fire ambulance to Morton Hospital in Taunton.

The initial investigation indicates that the motorcyclist was travelling south down Route 138 when he collided with the SUV that was crossing over Route 138 on Carver Street.

The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by the Raynham Police Department. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Raynham Police Department at 508-824-2716.

Route 138 was closed and traffic was diverted, with assistance from the Massachusetts Highway Department, while the scene was active. It was reopened at approximately 10 a.m.
