Mayor Jasiel Correia fights off challengers to keep post despite being recalled

Published

on

Jasiel Correia has unofficially been re-elected to the sixth floor after Tuesday’s recall election.

Despite being recalled by a vote of 7829 to 4911, Correia won with 4808 votes.

Mayor Correia narrowly beat challenger School Committee member Paul Coogan who had 4567 votes.

Fall River City Councilor Joseph Camara came in at 1971 votes.

Former School Committee member and City Councilor Kyle Riley came in at 1460 votes.

Erica Scott-Pacheco closed out the field at 740 votes.

Unless there are recounts or challenges to the vote, Correia will keep his job but will have to stay in campaign mode as a primary in September is on the horizon.
