Christopher Carreiro, candidate for Register of Deeds, solicits campaign donations with false endorsement from Senator Rodrigues

Senator Michael Rodrigues shared a message to his Facebook followers Sunday evening, clarifying a recent campaign donation solicitation from Swansea Selectman Christopher Carreiro.

“It has come to my attention that Chris Carreiro, candidate for Bristol County Register of Deeds, sent out a fund raising solicitation that included my name. Please know that it was done without my knowledge or permission. He has apologized and said it will never happen again. To be clear, I have not endorsed him in this election. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.”

Carreiro announced last month that he would not be seeking re-election as Swansea Selectman and instead, shared that he had taken out nomination papers to run for Bristol County Register of Deeds.

Bernard J McDonald III has held that position for over 29 years, first elected in 1994. McDonald recently announced that he is seeking re-election for another six year term.

The election will be held this November.
