They say it is better to give than receive. A Massachusetts woman is doing both after hitting it big on a scratch ticket.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Kathryn McDaid has won a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “100X The Money” instant ticket game.

McDaid, who is from Medford, chose this ticket because it was in dispenser 12, her son’s birth date. She opted to receive her prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). She plans on donating some of her winnings to charity.

She purchased her winning ticket at Pumpsy’s Liquors located at 271 Highland Ave. in Malden. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
