BROCKTON – A Massachusetts woman killed in a motor vehicle crash earlier this week is being remembered.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday morning, Marshfield Police and Fire responded to Plain Street at Lady Slipper Lane for a report of a two-vehicle crash involving a Marshfield Police vehicle. Upon arrival, first responders located the female operator of a red Subaru Forrester with injuries. She was transported to South Shore Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. She has been identified as Michelle Freestone, 79, of Marshfield. The Marshfield Police officer driving the other motor vehicle was not injured.

Preliminarily, it appears the operator of the red Subaru Forrester turned left in front of the tan motor vehicle and contact was made between the two vehicles. The Marshfield Police vehicle operator was not responding to a call at the time of the crash.

In a GoFundMe fundraiser, Freestone is being remembered for her kindness and motherly way.

“Shelly was one of the type of people, even if you met her once, she was always so kind. She leaves behind children, Bryce, Evan, and Cara. As well as her loving husband Bob. She was considered a “mother” to many of her children’s friends. She also has had friendships of her own that have lasted over 40 years. Shelly, with her son Evan are a part of the special needs community here in Marshfield. They have owned a business, Village Farmer, in Marshfield for many years.”

Marshfield Police notified Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the crash.
