Massachusetts State Police: Missing Fairhaven woman found on rocky jetty

Rescuers searching for a missing South Coast woman who was last seen on Monday while walking her dog have found her alive.

According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, the missing Fairhaven woman, Anapaula Huggins, has been located alive on a rock jetty that extends well out into New Bedford Harbor.

A local officer assigned to the Southeast Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council that was operating a drone located her.

Fairhaven Police stated that at approximately 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Huggins was located by first responders near the hurricane barrier just west of Egypt Lane in Fairhaven.

The woman was evaluated by EMS on scene and taken to an area hospital for evaluation.

Huggins had last been seen on video surveillance at approximately 7:30 a.m. Monday in the area of Pope Beach on Manhattan Avenue. She was reported missing at approximately 11:30 a.m.

According to family members, she had left her Raymond Street residence Monday morning with her dog. The dog was found by Fairhaven Animal Control at approximately 9:30 a.m., with no sign of Huggins.
