November 23, 2018 — This afternoon, at approximately 12:15 p.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Dartmouth responded to reports of a crash, which resulted in a fatality, on Route 195 eastbound in Somerset.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Richard Enos indicates that a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup, driven by a, 66-year-old male from Somerset, was broken down in the acceleration lane coming from Route 103 eastbound onto Route 195 eastbound. The Somerset man was in front of his vehicle with the hood up.
A Honda Accord driven by a 60-year-old Swansea woman came upon the disabled Dodge and struck it from behind, according to the preliminary investigation. The Dodge was pushed into the Somerset man, with the truck ending up in the ditch on the right side of the road. The Accord ended up in the right and middle travel lanes.
Both operators were transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital.
