UPDATE: Four-month-old Jacob Van Voorhis has been turned over to the Department of Children and Families in Springfield. The infant was brought to the DCF office there by a member of mother Shantel Van Voorhis’ biological family. Jacob is unharmed. The investigation into Shantel’s whereabouts is ongoing. The 1998 Honda CRV has also been located in Springfield with no occupants.

UPDATE: Massachusetts State Police locate endangered 4 month old, investigation ongoing
At 2:25 a.m. today, 15-year-old Shantel Van Voorhis took her 4 month old son, Jacob Van Voorhis, from DARE Family services in Newburyport where they were both residing. Shantel left without Jacob’s antibiotic for an ear infection, and he is on special soy formula. It is unknown if the child is in a baby seat and she left his diaper bag behind.
She might be in the company of Jonathan Heredia, who may be operating a gray, 1998 Honda CRV, Massachusetts registration 4ZN892, which was seen earlier today in the area of DARE Family services in Newburyport.
