Massachusetts sees rise in active COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, a daily occurrence this week

Massachusetts saw another increase in active cases and hospitalizations again in Friday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 2,674 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Thursday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased yet again to 3.12%.

Massachusetts had seen 2,482 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 177,627 with 23 more reported dead for a total of 10,038.

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 7,086,029 after 81,305 new molecular tests.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths remained at 20.

Estimated active cases are currently 27,431.

Hospitalizations have increased in 42 of the last 60 days and 17 of the last 19 and increased by 26 today to see the total raise to 687.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to Friday’s report, Fall River has a 62.5 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (41.8 last week) which is the fourth highest in the state among communities in the red. New Bedford sits at 29.9. Westport is also in the red at 44.8, Swansea is at 37.6, and Somerset 47.1.

• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 114,110
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 107,158
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 6,952

As of November 13th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 10,508,864 cases of COVID-19 with 242,216 reported deaths.

The United States saw the sixth daily case record since November 4th in today’s report.
